n March 2025, IREIT Global has secured the official building permit for the comprehensive redevelopment of the “re:o” Office Campus, a landmark commercial property located at Ostkreuz Station in Berlin-Lichtenberg. Since then, IREIT Global’s joint sponsors — Tikehau Capital, global alternative asset manager and City Developments Limited (CDL) — have moved forward with the transformation of the property, initiating the next phase of construction and revitalisation. The repositioning project “re:o” at Berlin’s Ostkreuz station is now gaining momentum. With Ed. Züblin AG appointed as general contractor for the first construction phase, another key milestone has been reached. Official construction work began in August 2025, with completion scheduled for 2027.
As part of this construction phase, a section of the existing building on Schreiberhauer Straße will undergo extensive redevelopment. The centerpiece of the work will be the creation of a new main entrance hall and the conversion of part of the building into two hotels under the Premier Inn and Stayery brands.
“With ZÜBLIN, we have gained an experienced and reliable partner to execute the first phase of construction. The start of construction marks an important moment for the project as well as for the future development of the site,” said Peter Viens, CEO of IREIT Global.
“As IREIT’s operational partner, Kintyre Development has played a key role in the repositioning of the site, the building permit process, leasing, and the awarding of construction contracts. We are pleased to have such a strong partner in ZÜBLIN and are now focusing on leasing the office space. Discussions with potential tenants are progressing very positively,” added Adam Pearce, Executive Director at Kintyre.
In parallel with construction, planning for the remaining elements of the multifunctional office campus continues to move forward. In addition to modern office spaces, “re:o” will also feature complementary offerings in hospitality, gastronomy, and services. In total, around 76,000 square meters of rental space will be created, positioning the district as a forward-looking hub for business and services.
